Why the idea of reaching Zen can be harmful

It ignores how marginalized folks live very different realities than those who are not. Privilege affords us the opportunity to remove ourselves from harmful experiences.

Super grateful to @leigh.arredondo.seattle and the Super grateful to @leigh.arredondo.seattle and the entire team @cm_seattle for the opportunity to speak on growing through community. I had such an amazing time! I've come such a long way from being terrified of using my voice! How fun that many of my friends who showed up were captured by John Cornicello! Thanks friends for the support!

I feel so grateful for @mamsbookstore for being a I feel so grateful for @mamsbookstore for being a third space for our AA community. It's a space that brings so many of us joy and connection. This was last Sunday's @seattlechinatownbookclub where we discussed Here After, a book on grief.Rather than participating I was testing out a rented Fujifilm XT-5. I still shoot a Canon 5D Mark III for my art projects but miss everyday casual shooting so am considering a smaller system I can carry around. It was comedic how complicated this camera was and I accidentally deleted a bunch of photos (sorry @alexandra__cara for the missing you and dog pic).#thirdspaces #seattlecid #seattlebookclub

I had so much fun last night at the intuitive coll I had so much fun last night at the intuitive collage workshop with @wynpokes at @thefishbowlseattle.It's so fun to unexpectedly see where we're at by just picking words and images and putting them together. What do you think mine means? I do love the "color washing" phrase I found. Any guesses?
Applications for the 2025 Collective Power Fund ar Applications for the 2025 Collective Power Fund are now open until November 16th! I won this grant several years ago so reach out to me if you'd like to chat with me about it. I encourage all of you to apply. This was the very first one I applied to so don't let lack of experience hinder you.Collective Power Fund focuses primarily on supporting work that incites public dialogue, pushes boundaries, explores genre fluidity, speaks its truth through an authentic perspective, and is often non-traditional, anti-institutional, socially responsible, or disruptive of existing structures and conventions. It encourages a community-forward environment of resource-sharing, mutual support, and fellowship in the Pacific Northwest arts ecosystem. The 2025 grant will distribute $60,000 in increments of $2,000 – $5,000 – $10,000. Individual artists, who live in unincorporated or incorporated King County, will be eligible to self-select for the $2,000 or $5,000 tiers and the $10,000 tier will be exclusive to artist teams or artist-run collectives within the county.Full guidelines and application at the link in @nwfilmforum bio or at https://nwfilmforum.org/collective-power-fund#collectivepowernw #collectivepowerfund #collectivepower #warholfoundation #nwfilmforum #nwff #nwartists #nwartist #seattleartist #seattleartists #regionalregranting #regionalregrantingprogram
